As a proud mum to an energetic 18 month-old girl, my journey here has been one of resilience, strength and support.
I became interested in fitness in 2015, and it's been my go-to for maintaining well-being ever since. Over the last five years I've faced the heartbreak of multiple pregnancy losses, but exercise became my sanctuary helping me stay mentally and physically ready for the future.
In 2022 we welcomed our much-wanted daughter into the world. I continued my training until just 10 days before her birth! After pregnancy, I experienced physical changes common to many new mums, including postpartum joint laxity, making it essential to stay active and strengthen my body.
Being new to Bristol in 2022, fresh into parenthood, I sought connection within the community. Local baby groups not only provided friendships but also became a vital support system. It was through these connections that I discovered a passion for helping fellow mums on their journeys.
Health and Fitness has been a big part of my life for seven years now. Coming from a non-fitness background, I embarked on a journey of exploration, trying out various exercises to discover what truly resonates with me and what works best for my body. As it turns out, weight training is my favourite!
I love the uplifting feeling that comes with staying active, whether that's walking the dog in the park, playing badminton, or more focused exercise sessions.
In December 2022, I had my first baby, Isaac. Pregnancy was a life-changing experience, and I did my best to continue with regular light exercise, but nothing prepared me for the changes my body underwent during this time.
As I gradually eased back into my fitness routine post-pregnancy with home workouts, I developed a newfound interest in pre and postnatal fitness.
As first-time mums, we met at an NCT class, where we joined to better prepare for the incredible experience of childbirth and beyond. Bonding over our shared love for how exercise transforms both body and mind, we recognised the challenges new mums face in returning to fitness post-childbirth.
Determined to create a space where mums, like us, could prioritise their health without childcare worries, we became certified perinatal and exercise to music instructors, all while caring for our little ones and transitioning back to work after maternity leave. Some might call it ambitious, but from this drive, Core Wellness was born!
